WATOTO WA SIKU HIZI

This generation,
watoto wa siku hizi,
they don’t know how to do a single thing!
They do’t read enough,
they don’t succeed enough,
only shame to us do they bring!

They go out too much,
‘hang around’ too much,
what is wrong with the children of today?
What shall we do with them,
these watoto wa siku hizi,
they are honestly such a pain!

This Twitter generation,
the future of our nation,
can’t they be like we were back in the day?
Intelligent, hardworking,
in manners never lacking,
things this generation lacks today.

These watoto wa siku hizi,
this young generation,
they always have something to say!
They are always yapping,
in opinions never lacking,
what to do with these children of today!

I’m always left wondering,
why nobody claims them,
these terrible children of today.
These watoto wa siku hizi,
this young generation,
who’s children are they anyway?

Blame is thrown left and right,
with this generation there is always a fight,
but nobody will stand up and say,
these children are yours, these children are mine,
I guess we will wait for ‘siku hizi’ to come make the claim.

*Watoto wa siku hizi is a common term used in Kenya meaning the children of today. It is typically used to refer to the current young generation.
