To laugh at another’s misfortune , what damage this can do.
This act though seemingly harmless, can not only crush one’s soul but also snatch one’s hope and send them reeling in despair.
Enough people keep their struggles, their misfortune, their pain, close to their heart. Clinging ever so tightly to them, allowing these to eat them from inside out of fear… fear of being shamed by their family, their friends. Fear of being laughed at and shunned. So they suffer in silence, enduring each painful step alone.
But why do we laugh at another’s struggles, fears and pain ? And worse even, why do we celebrate ? Is it so hard to lend a helping hand instead? A shoulder to lean on…to be a good friend? Is it so hard to lend an ear? To listen, to empathise, maybe give a word of comfort or assurance ?
Is it so hard to be loving…to be kind?
To laugh at another’s misfortune, what damage this has done…what damage it can do.
Let us replace this with a little empathy, try to understand our fellow man. Let us spread love and kindness instead and help to heal mankind.
